Poncione d'Arzo

Il Poncione d'Arzo è una montagna del Mendrisiotto confinante con l'Italia dove viene chiamato Monte Pravello.
La sua vetta è formata da una cresta lunga 200 metri ai cui lati si trovano 2 cime. La più alta, quella est, raggiunge un altezza di 1017 metri e vi si può trovare una vecchia guardiola in lamiera usata un tempo dalle guardie di confine svizzere. L'altra cima, quella ovest, è alta 1015 metri ed è caratterizzata da un tavolo, delle panchine, una croce e una seconda guardiola, questa volta in cemento armato.
Sulle falde meridionali del Poncione, dal lato svizzero, sono presenti numerose cave da cui un tempo si estraeva il famoso marmo di Arzo, esportato un po' in tutta Europa.
Dal lato italiano invece sono presenti le cave di Saltrio da cui si estraeva una pietra calcare grigio cenere.
