Today's walk is in the Leventina Valley and more precisely to Pizzo di Campello, a mountain located on the border with the Blenio Valley.
The departure is from the village of Carì from where I start to climb following the signs to the Capanna Prodör. After having reached it and taken a couple of photos, I take the path that goes up to Brusada. I then continue to climb along the little road that leads to Pro da Lei from where a path leads me to Lago di Carì (Lago di Pro da Lei on the national map). At this point I continue in the direction of the Gana Rossa hut for about 400 metres, after which I leave the path and start to climb along the grassy slopes of Pizzo di Campello. Towards 2400 metres I move to the left to get around the numerous scree slopes.
At first glance, the slope leading to the west ridge of the peak seems to be entirely covered with rocks and difficult to pass. In reality, at a certain point, it is crossed by a kind of grassy ledge where there is also a track. Following it, I arrive at the crest, which I follow up to an altitude of 2610 metres. At this point there are two possibilities to reach the summit. The first involves continuing to climb along the west ridge. The second is to continue to follow the track that continues on the flat along the south side of Pizzo di Campello and then climb along the east ridge. This last variant is the longest but also the easiest, while the other has some passages of difficulty T4. I decide to follow the ridge immediately and climb it for 25 metres until I meet a rocky formation, full of spikes, which bars my way. However, I manage to go around it on the right side, where there is a narrow ledge, and after a last easy climb I am on the summit.
For the descent, this time, I follow the easiest route and descend along the east ridge to an altitude of 2608 metres. At that point, I turn west and follow the track, already seen earlier, which crosses the southern slope of the mountain and takes me back to the western ridge, where I had already passed in the morning. Following the path taken on the way up, I descend again to Lago di Carì and continue towards Brusada. When I reach Brusada, in order to shorten the path, instead of following the official route I try to descend directly along the small road that runs under the cable car. However, this road is disappearing because it is no longer used, but it is still quite visible. I thus reach the Capanna Prodör again and finally Carì.
As far as water is concerned, there is a fountain at the hut and then a few streams further up, but these run through the pastures and may not be clean.
