Comment (Automatic translation in english)
This variant of Monte San Giorgio starts from the village of Serpiano, reachable by car or by bus. Eventually it is also possible to take the cableway that starts from Brusino Arsizio, but in this case I do not recommend following the path that goes straight to the San Giorgio (towards South-West) because it has been abandoned by the Tourist Office and is now difficult to find.
We begin to walk then along the path that overlooks the road that leads to Serpiano Station and then continue along the dirt road that leads to the Alpe di Brusino. This alp is famous for its centuries-old chestnut trees which have a diameter of several meters and which, due to their age, have a hollow trunk.
We continue to walk and begin to climb towards the south until we reach the height of 925 meters. Here we turn left and reach first the Forello and finally the summit, where there is a small oratory and where you can enjoy one of the most beautiful views of Ticino.
For the return we reach again the quota of 925 meters, but this time to vary the route a little, we continue towards South-West and descend to the Cave Boscaccio where once the bituminous shale was extracted and where there is also a beautiful lawn. From here in a short time we return to the start.
I remember that along the way there is no water, except for the paid drinks inside the little church on the summit.
