Reached the town of Crocifisso, by car or by bus, we begin to walk going up North-East. This particular path is very favorable to follow especially in winter, because it is particularly solitary and sheltered from the cold north wind.
Having reached the altitude of 870 meters, we meet the path coming from the Serpiano and a few tens of meters later, the one coming from Cassina. We continue instead climbing to the quota of 925 meters, reached which the path is still divided into a lower one and a higher one. We follow the upper one and so we get to the meadows of the Forello and finally to the summit where there is a small church dedicated to San Giorgio.
From here you can enjoy a wonderful view over most of the Ticino and you can admire peaks like the Adula, the tip of Basòdino or Gridone or large mountains such as Monte Rosa, Dom or Finsteraarhorn.
For the return we decide to go down first to Cassina and from there we take the path that turns to the North-West that finally brings us back to Crocifisso.
I remember that for the whole route there is no water available except for the paid drinks inside the church on the top.
