Today I am returning to Monte Bar, but this time by a route I have never taken before.
I start by reaching the village of Colla, at the bottom of Val Colla, where there are some parking spaces along the road. I then set off along the path that climbs to the Barchi di Colla and, after reaching them, I continue along the road that gently takes me to Alpe Pietrarossa. The last section of the road was redone a few years ago and now no longer corresponds to what is shown on the national map. I then take the path that climbs the ridge and leads me up to Cima Moncucco. On the other side, a descent of about 70 metres awaits me before tackling the final climb that will take me to the top of Monte Bar.
Notice, all along the ridge, the presence of many blueberry plants with red branches. I believe this is due to the severe drought at this time, which has caused the plants to die.
After a break on the summit of Monte Bar, I start to descend again to an altitude of 1661 metres. I then head to Piandanazzo where I take the path that leads to Torrettone. Once reached, I descend to Pastura where, at an altitude of 1350 metres, I encounter the remains of the Suvino canal. This canal, which cuts the path from west to east, was built at the beginning of the 20th century for the purpose of collecting rainwater and thus protecting the young plantations below. After a short break, I continue downhill until I reach the village of Signôra. At this point, following the cantonal road, I soon return to Colla.
As for water, I found several fountains up to Alpe Pietrarossa, but they were all closed at this time. On the way back I found another fountain at Piandanazzo, this time open. Finally, I think there was also one at the end of the car park at Colla, but I did not check whether it was working or not.
