Once the winter period is over, we start again with a snowshoe trip in the Blenio Valley. The destination is the Capanna Gorda.
Once reached the village of Camperio, I start to walk following the forest road that starts from Piana. The first stretch is mostly in the shade, but fortunately today is a relatively mild day and I don't suffer too much from the cold. When I reach the altitude of about 1570 meters, I leave the road to follow a small shortcut to the left. In fact, I decide to take the path that passes through the woods and arrive directly at the point at 1627 meters. After this small deviation I continue to climb along the road towards Pian Cassinella and from there I soon reach Gorda.
The hut is located immediately after the village, at the end of a large plateau, and enjoys a splendid view over the entire Blenio Valley. Today, in fact, there is a bit of mist due to the dust coming from the Sahara, but the view is still wonderful. Once reached the hut, I decide to go on a little more until Alpe Gorda where I finally conclude my excursion and go back.
To get to the hut, to tell the truth, the snowshoes were not so necessary since the road to Gorda is beaten with the snowcat. There is only one point in the middle of the forest, at around 1600m, where the path is a bit slippery and the snowshoes are quite useful. However, this section can be bypassed by continuing to follow the road and passing higher up, as I did on the way back (see map).
Snowshoes are also useful along the route from the hut to Alpe Gorda, because the path is not very well trodden and in many places you sink a little.
